Squamules 0.4–1.2 (–2.0) mm wide, ascending, geotropically orientated, discrete or rarely becoming somewhat aggregated, weakly to strongly convex, grey-green or yellowish to dark brown, dull; margin entire or slightly crenulate, not or slightly upturned, concolorous with the upper surface; isidia absent. Soredia yellowish brown along the margin, greenish on the underside, farinose to granular, forming marginal labriform soralia.
